Inpro Seal Bearing Isolator

THE LAST SEAL YOUR

BEARING WILL EVER NEED.

Lip seals wear. Mechanical seals fail. Bearing isolators don’t. Inpro/Seal’s non-contacting labyrinth design permanently eliminates lubrication loss and contamination ingress — the two causes behind more than half of all bearing failures in refinery and petrochemical rotating equipment.

Bearing seal failure on a critical pump? We can help — fast.

HOW IT WORKS

NON-CONTACTING.

PERMANENTLY SEALED.

Every lip seal, packing, or mechanical seal in your plant has a predictable failure mode — wear. Inpro/Seal bearing isolators operate without contact between rotor and stator, eliminating the wear mechanism entirely and delivering permanent bearing protection with no scheduled replacement interval.

01

COMPOUND LABYRINTH BARRIER

The unitized stator and rotor form a compound labyrinth that presents no direct path for contamination to enter the bearing housing. Dirt, moisture, process fluids, and airborne particulates are forced through a tortuous geometry designed to capture and expel — not compress and wear. The XX Interface and contamination chamber route contaminants out through centrifugal force and gravity.

02

ZERO-LOSS LUBRICATION RETENTION

The D-Groove captures oil traveling down the shaft and returns it to the bearing housing. The VBX Ring blocks vapor contamination created by thermal cycling of the bearing enclosure and eliminates grease loss on grease-lubricated equipment. No lip to groove the shaft. No dynamic face to wear out. No lubrication escaping to the environment

03

UNITIZED ASSEMBLY – DROP-IN REPLACEMENT

Inpro/Seal isolators are custom-engineered to the bore, shaft diameter, and equipment design of your specific rotating asset. They install directly into the existing housing with no machining required on most applications — making retrofit straightforward for maintenance teams during planned outages or forced shutdowns.

04

IP66 INGRESS PROTECTION – CERTIFIED

The VB45-S and mini66 designs carry an IP66 rating — certified protection against both harmful dust particulates and powerful water jets from any direction. This is the highest ingress protection standard relevant to rotating equipment in refinery, chemical, and power generation environments, meeting IEEE-841 and API service requirements.

Why lip seals keep failing: Lip seals rely on dynamic contact between a rubber lip and a rotating shaft to seal. Heat, vibration, shaft misalignment, and overpressure accelerate wear at the contact zone — and once the lip loses contact or grooves the shaft, it leaks in both directions. Most maintenance departments replace lip seals every 6–18 months. Inpro/Seal bearing isolators have no contact, no wear, no replacement interval — and documented installations running 20+ years on the original isolator.

PRODUCT LINE

RIGHT ISOLATOR FOR EVERY APPLICATION

Inpro/Seal manufactures purpose-built isolator designs for standard rotating equipment and specialty applications including steam turbines, paper machine rolls, pillow blocks, and gearboxes. Kelley Industrial stocks and specifies the full line for Midwest refinery and petrochemical customers.

The current-generation standard bearing isolator. IP66-rated, 14.61 mm overall length, featuring the patented XX Interface and enlarged contamination chamber. Works in oil and grease lubricated rotating equipment. The replacement spec for most pump, motor, and gearbox applications.

The smallest IP66-rated bearing isolator on the market at 9.52 mm overall length. Designed for grease-lubricated electric motors with limited axial space — exceeds IEEE-841 standards. Ideal for motor frames where conventional isolators cannot fit.

Magnetic face seal technology for flooded, oil mist, and high oil splash bearing conditions. Rare earth magnets create consistent, liquid-tight sealing face loading. Designed for pumps and gearboxes where conventional labyrinth designs cannot maintain oil exclusion.

Magnetic Seal · Flooded · Oil Mist · Pumps

Accommodates temperatures to 1,000°F (537°C) and keeps steam from entering the bearing housing on process steam turbines. Uses a deflector rotor and VBXX interface for high-temperature sealing integrity across thermal cycling.

Purpose-built for wet and dry end paper machine rolls. Accommodates heavy washdown, high humidity, and the cyclic load profiles of paper roll applications. Prevents catastrophic bearing failure and unscheduled downtime in wet process environments.

IP66-rated isolator designed specifically for pillow block bearing housing geometry. Standard pillow block seals are inadequate for most industrial environments. This design provides the same permanent protection as line-shaft equipment in a pillow block-optimized profile.

APPLICATIONS

WHERE INPRO/SEAL PERFORMS

Crude units, FCCU, hydrocracker, and utility systems run hundreds of pumps and motors in contaminated, high-temperature environments. Inpro/Seal isolators are the documented standard for permanent bearing protection at Marathon, BP, Chevron, and other major operators — replacing lip seals on every pump in reliability-focused maintenance programs.

Process pumps and motors in chemical service see aggressive fluids, moisture, and airborne particulates that destroy contact seals within months. Inpro/Seal’s IP66-rated isolators eliminate the contamination ingress pathway entirely — improving MTBR, reducing lubrication consumption, and removing bearing seals from the critical maintenance schedule.

Feed water pumps, cooling tower fans, condensate systems, and auxiliary motors benefit from permanent bearing protection during long run cycles between planned outages. Inpro/Seal isolators reduce forced outage risk from bearing failure in critical rotating assets.

Flooded oil and oil mist gearboxes present sealing challenges that conventional isolators cannot address. The VBMag magnetic design and specialty gearbox isolators provide liquid-tight sealing integrity for high oil splash and flooded bearing conditions in compressor trains and power transmission gearboxes.

IEEE-841 severe duty motors in refinery service require bearing protection rated for the environment. Inpro/Seal’s VB45-S and mini66 designs meet and exceed IEEE-841 ingress protection standards — and install on NEMA frame motors without machining during scheduled maintenance windows.

Chiller compressors, cooling tower fans, and pump skids supporting hyperscale and colocation facilities run continuously in humid, condensation-prone environments where bearing contamination threatens 24/7 uptime. Inpro/Seal isolators eliminate the contamination ingress pathway — removing bearing seals from the corrective maintenance queue and keeping critical cooling infrastructure off the outage log.
