Turnaround & Hot Work Protection

THE ONLY COVER

BUILT FOR HOT WORK

Most drain covers are spill products used in hot work. The Century 2000 is different — engineered specifically to isolate refinery and petrochemical sewer systems during turnarounds and hot work operations, blocking ignition pathways and sealing dangerous vapor emissions at the source.

HOW IT WORKS

TWO LINES OF DEFENSE.

ONE ENGINEERED COVER.

Hot work programs at Chevron, BP, Marathon and other major operators require drains and sewers within 35–50 feet of hot work to be isolated before permits are issued. The Century 2000 satisfies both requirements that those programs demand.

01

ISOLATES YOUR SEWER SYSTEM

The Century 2000 creates a physical barrier that prevents sparks, slag, debris, and hot work contaminants from entering your drain or sewer system — stopping ignition sources from reaching the hydrocarbon vapors that accumulate in below-grade infrastructure. This is the control that permit issuers require before hot work begins.

02

SEALS IN DANGERS

Refinery sewer systems are vapor pathways. The Century 2000 seals the opening to prevent flammable and toxic vapors from escaping into the work area during maintenance operations — reducing explosive atmosphere risk and supporting your LFL monitoring program. This is the control that OSHA, NFPA 51B, and EPA RMP require you to document.

Why this distinction matters: Standard polyurethane drain seals sold through other distributors are designed for spill containment — and many carry the specification “Flame Resistant: No.” Using a non-rated product under a hot work permit creates a documented compliance gap and an unacceptable liability. The Century 2000 is built for the hot work environment, not repurposed for it.

APPLICATIONS

WHERE THE CENTURY 2000 WORKS

The highest-density, highest-risk hot work environment. Multiple drains and sewers within the permit boundary must be isolated before any hot work permit is issued. The Century 2000 is engineered specifically for this context — fire-retardant, vapor-sealing, available in large formats for industrial sewer openings.

Process units handling hydrocarbons require rigorous hot work controls. Drain and sewer isolation is a permit prerequisite under EPA RMP Program 3 and OSHA 1910.252. Century 2000 gives EHS managers a documented, purpose-built solution to reference in the permit record.

Scheduled outages and maintenance windows require the same hot work controls as refinery environments. Century 2000 covers standard and non-standard drain openings across utility-scale plant infrastructure.

Any facility running a hot work permit program and handling flammable materials has the same underlying need. The Century 2000 meets SPCC requirements as a diversionary structure while simultaneously serving as a hot work control.

Heavy equipment, open infrastructure, and improvised drain covers are common at active construction and mining sites. Century 2000 replaces non-compliant field solutions — plywood, sandbags, plastic sheeting — with a durable, documented control.

High heat, combustible materials, and municipal sewer infrastructure create hot work exposure at asphalt operations and municipal facilities. Century 2000 covers open drain infrastructure during maintenance windows and emergency response.
