CAPABILITIES
START WITH
THE PROBLEM.
NOT THE PART NUMBER.
We focus on a defined set of industrial reliability problems — bearing contamination, fluid leakage, equipment movement, turnaround safety, and environmental control. Each capability is built around deep application knowledge and manufacturer partnerships matched to the specific equipment and operating conditions of the application.
HOW WE WORK
APPLICATION FIRST. EVERY TIME.
Most industrial distribution is built around inventory and transaction speed. A customer calls with a part number, the distributor ships the part. That model works fine when the specification is already correct.
It doesn’t work when the specification is the problem. Wrong packing fiber. Wrong bearing seal type for the operating environment. Expansion joint misspecified for the actual movement in the system. These are engineering problems — and they require an engineering approach, not a catalog lookup.
Kelley Industrial evaluates the application before specifying anything. Equipment type, operating environment, process fluid, failure history — these are the inputs that determine whether a product works in a specific application or just works in the general case.
The four capability areas below represent the specific problems we have built deep expertise around over nearly three decades of field work. Select the capability that matches your problem — or call us with the equipment and the failure, and we’ll direct you to the right solution.
CAPABILITY AREAS
SELECT YOUR CAPABILITY
Four defined problem areas. Each with its own product lines, manufacturer partnerships, and application depth. Select the capability that matches your equipment and failure mode.
01
CORE CAPABILITY
ROTATING EQUIPMENT PROTECTION & MOVEMENT CONTROL
The broadest capability area – bearing isolation, fluid sealing, mechanical packing, and expansion joints for pumps, motors, gearboxes, turbines, fans, agitators, and conveyors. Four distinct product lines, each addressing a specific failure mode on rotating equipment. If a bearing is failing, a shaft is leaking, or piping movement is loading connected equipment, the solution is in this capability area.

CORE CAPABILITY
TURNAROUND & HOT WORK PROTECTION
During refinery turnarounds and hot work operations, weld spatter and cutting slag near open sewer drains create a documented ignition hazard that standard drain covers are not designed to address. The Century 2000 sewer cover — water-filled, purpose-built for refinery service — captures and quenches hot material before it reaches the sewer system. No adequate substitutes in standard inventory.

CAPABILITY
OPERATIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL CONTROL
Cold weather stops conveyor systems. Airborne particulate from coal piles, aggregate stockpiles, and bulk material storage creates compliance exposure. Neither is a mechanical failure — but both cost production hours and carry real consequences. Zircon Liquid Heat prevents ice formation to −60°F. Latex 100 locks fugitive dust at the surface, replacing continuous water suppression with a durable sealant treatment.

CAPABILITY
ENGINEERED SEALING & SPECIALIZED COMPONENTS
Some sealing and containment problems require materials and fabrication that standard stocking programs cannot supply — gaskets in PTFE, flexible graphite, or spiral wound construction for extreme temperature or chemical service; specialty hose assemblies matched to a specific process fluid and pressure rating; engineered plastics and cast polyurethane for wear and abrasion applications. Fabricated to application specification, not pulled from a bin.

NOT SURE WHICH
CAPABILTY APPLIES?
Describe the equipment and what’s failing. We’ll identify which capability area addresses your problem and point you to the right solution — or tell you directly if it’s outside what we do.
