Every mechanical seal, packing gland, and lip seal on your process equipment wears against the shaft. Shaft deflection, runout, and misalignment accelerate that wear to failure. The Air Mizer eliminates contact entirely — using a precision positive-pressure purge to seal against both product escape and atmospheric contamination simultaneously, with full articulation to follow the shaft wherever it moves.

PRECISSION CLEARANCE + POSITIVE PURGE
Small volumes of air, inert gas, or water flow through a precision clearance between the throttle and shaft. The purge pressurizes the annular gap evenly — no dead spots, no uneven wear zones, no differential pressure failure modes. Unlike packing, which relies on mechanical contact, the Air Mizer directs sealing medium simultaneously toward the product side and the atmosphere side. One design. Both directions blocked.

FULL SHAFT ARTICULATION – MISALIGNMENT TOLERANCE
Side-entry agitators, mixers, and process equipment produce radial run-out, axial movement, and angular misalignment at the shaft. Contact seals fight this movement — and fail because of it. The Air Mizer fully articulates to accommodate all three axes without compressing against the shaft. No fretting of the shaft surface. No periodic packing adjustments. No seal face tracking wear.

CUSTOM ENGINEERED – DROP-IN ON EXISTING EQUIPMENT
Every Air Mizer is engineered to the shaft diameter, housing geometry, process fluid, and operating conditions of the specific application. On most retrofits, the seal installs directly into the existing stuffing box. No machining. No housing replacement. Kelley Industrial specifies the correct design — agitator, mixer, rotary valve, or conveyor — and coordinates AM Control Panel integration where automatic purge regulation is required.

DUAL-DIRECTION SEALING – ONE DESIGN
Conventional shaft seals choose a direction: product in, or environment out. The Air Mizer seals both. The purge barrier prevents process fluids, powders, slurries, and bulk solids from escaping — while blocking atmospheric contamination and moisture from entering the process. This matters in food-grade, hazardous chemical, and regulated emission applications where one-way sealing is not enough.
Why packing and mechanical seals keep failing on agitators: Side-entry agitators can produce more than 0.250 inches of radial shaft movement under process load. Mechanical seals require concentricity within 0.002 inches — a tolerance agitator shafts routinely violate. Packing compensates by gripping harder, grooves the shaft, and still leaks. The Air Mizer was designed specifically for this condition. Non-contacting. Fully articulating. No tolerance to violate.
